Provide Basic Emergency Life Support Recognised worldwide & Delivered in a highly effective methodology in a wide array of realistic scenarios, this short course provides you with the skills and knowledge to help you recognise and Respond Right to life threatening emergencies at home, with your children, friends, and in your community using basic life support.
This course incorporates content from the Perform CPR.

 

Followed DRSABCD in line with ARC guidelines, including:
- Performed at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor
- Performed at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer CPR on an infant resuscitation manikin placed on a firm surface
- Responded appropriately in the event of regurgitation or vomiting
- Managed the unconscious breathing casualty
- Followed single rescue procedure, including the demonstration of a rotation of operators with minimal interruptions to compressions
- Followed the prompts of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Responded to at least one simulated first aid scenario contextualised to the candidate’s workplace/community setting, including:
- Demonstrated safe manual handling techniques
- Provided an accurate verbal or written report of the incident

Provide first aid procedures for the following:
- Allergic reaction
- Anaphylaxis
- Bleeding control
- Choking and airway obstruction
- Respiratory distress, including asthma & shock

Understand the principles and procedures for first-aid management of the following scenarios:
- Allergic reaction
- Anaphylaxis
- Bleeding control
- Cardiac conditions, including chest pain
- Chocking and airway obstruction
- Respiratory distress, including asthma
- Treatment for shock
- How to respond correctly to a person having a stroke

Assessment

Students will be assessed through the demonstration of practical skills, participation in role plays, analysis of case studies, and a written quiz.

Note: It is a requirement of this course that a practical demonstration of CPR must be performed on the adult manikin on the floor.

Outcome

On successful completion of this training course, students will be issued with up to date certification - a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment Certification and wall diploma for Provide basic emergency life support
